Girls Global Leadership Day is a day of advocacy, and celebration for girls that Legacy Leadership Institute founder, Chairidee Smith initially established to encourage girls to expand their leadership, cultural awareness, and friendships with diversity. Today, the annual day is about highlighting, celebrating, discussing, and advancing girls lives and opportunities not only domestically but around the globe. This day is now set aside in accordance with The United Nations’ first International Day of the Girl Child, celebrated October 11 to expand our dialogue with girls, families, community, civic, political, and education leaders about developing a new way of thinking about issues like gender stereotypes, discrimination, leadership, entrepreneurship, opportunity and self-esteem. Girls Global Leadership Day is not just a day but a movement and an investment in girl-leaders for today and tomorrow.
