Serve as Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) on project(s) for the Federal Government. Responsible for Operations and Maintenance (O&M) tasks on several multi-terabyte database systems, to include backup and recovery, performance tuning, user access, tablespace management, PL/SQL stored procedures and system monitoring. Performed data modeling for logical and physical models in support of both OLTP and OLAP applications. Built prototype data warehouse system to support and allow for complex analytic queries and data mining to be performed against large volumes of data. Built and modeled indexes using Oracle Text to perform wildcard searches against large, unstructured data sets. Engineered an ETL architecture to support unstructured text manipulation and XML conversions. Installed Oracle software and patches as needed. Performed upgrade from 10g to 11g. Vangent (formerly Pearson Analytic Solutions)/Senior Oracle DBA: 2/2006 - 8/2007 : Served as Senior Oracle DBA on project(s) for the Federal Government. Responsible for O&M tasks on several multi-terabyte database systems, to include backup and recovery, performance tuning, user access, tablespace management, writing stored procedures and monitoring the system. Developed and maintained an ETL architecture to parse and normalize large, unstructured data sources. Installed and configured Oracle Grid Control in order to better monitor the health and performance of multiple database instances. Designed and implemented a reporting layer to allow users to access data more efficiently. Instances included Oracle 8i, 9i and 10g using Solaris operating system.

Responsible for maintaining and performance tuning a terabyte Oracle 9i/10g database. Responsible for the design and implementation of ETL processes to include the analysis of raw data sources, to include Oracle and non-Oracle databases, flat files and spreadsheets for ingestion. Created scripts using PERL and PL/SQL to format and output data, load data into staging and target tables, and created supporting documentation detailing the processing of each data source. Performed data modeling and database design as needed. Approximately 40% of duties involved PL/SQL and perl coding. Developed a data report card to more easily evaluate findings in raw data sets. Provided Oracle DBA and Web Development support for a project at the U.S. Bureau of the Census. Responsible for building a frequently asked question (FAQ) database and the ``Business Help Site'' (BHS) for the 2002 Economic Census. The BHS transactions included checking filing status, requesting a remail of forms, and requesting time extensions. Designed and implemented an Oracle 9i database for the BHS. Enabled secure interactivity between the respondent and the database; over 5 million secure transactions were performed.
