Pengfei Qiao received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2012 and 2015, respectively, both in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Qiao joined UC Berkeley as a postdoctoral researcher in 2015. His research areas include optoelectronic devices, integrated photonics, electromagnetics, and semiconductor physics. Dr. Qiao specializes in design and development of: 1. Optoelectronic devices: VCSELs, EELs, nanolasers, tunable lasers, photodetectors, etc. 2. Photonic structures: Gratings, metasurfaces/metastructures, micro/nano-cavities, etc. 3. Compound semiconductor materials: Epitaxy, quantum wells, quantum dots, superlattices, etc. 4. Photonic integration and nonlinear optics III-V on Si, mode-locked lasers, supercontinuum, frequency combs, etc.
