Monique Marks

As a health coach and social worker, my practice is driven by a mission to enhance life quality and wellness outcomes. I combine this dual training so I am able to simultaneously work with mental and physical health issues. As Gabor Mate so aptly reminds us, our wellbeing is shaped by the our physical being, our psyche, and our social circumstances. Our wounds, past and present, contribute to ill health if left unhealed. In my practice, I specialise in the management of chronic illness, substance use disorders, and end-of-life wellness. I also specialise in assisting clients with depression, anxiety, and ADHD.The blend of health counseling and my dedication to multi-disciplinary collaboration means that I link with allied professionals. I also play a role in coordinating my clients’ medical care team if and when this is requested. I know from first hand experience it is to be confronting a health issue but doctors are not speaking to the patient or to others that are part of the health team. My core values are care, connection, trust, consistency, showing up. As a person I am warm yet direct, funny while well informed. I also hold the position of Senior Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg.
