A Resident Advisor [RA] is a trained peer student leader who provides services, resources, programming to those living in a university-owned residential community. Student Leadership -Assisted residents with problem solving and/or mediated to identify academic or institutional resources -Upheld professional and personal standards as outlined by the Department of University Housing & Food Service and the greater University. -Maintained up-to-date knowledge on behavioral-health related issues and current best practices for mentorship through seasonal trainings -Created programs for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between international and domestic students Team Work -Collaborated with 14 resident advisors to promote diverse and inclusive communities through programming -Ensured the safety and security of 232 residents by partnering with another RA to perform routine security checks and execute emergency drills

OMPT’s mission is to help educate the world’s poorest billion people with low-cost video technology. Administration and Research Experience In this non-profit start up my role was to support the Program Manager with research and support of projects. Through my daily tasks I was exposed to understanding the administrative side of non-profit relations, from relaying communications to managing donor and partners contacts in a CRM platform. I also contributed my educational training in research and survey design to assist in evaluating the success of multimedia workshops by analyzing participant surveys using IBM SPSS software. After interpreting the results, I provided suggestions for revised survey instruments to improve the reliability of program evaluation practices. The experience at OMPT ignited my interest in and passion for providing resources to empower developing communities and its members with knowledge and skills-transfer training.

Courses: Soci 411- Doing Social Research A hands-on research course where students design and conduct qualitative or quantitative research projects. Every stage of research, from project conceptualization through data collection and analysis, is undertaken. This course provides practical experience in research methods for use in future employment or graduate studies. Soci 441- Sociology of World Affairs This course applies sociological concepts and theories to local, national, and international events and trends. Students read news sources and sociological works, which are use to interpret the news and global developments. LAST 495- Capstone seminar of Latin American Studies This course offers an historical sweep of Latin America's indigenous populations and the twentieth- century cultural and political phenomenon known as indigenismo.
