Mohamed Noeman
Adjunct Assistant Professor @ The American University in Cairo
About
I am an experienced architect and academic, specializing in the integration of computational design and sustainable urban development. With a PhD focused on passive thermal comfort methods through urban dispersion in New Cairo, Egypt, I have developed innovative algorithms to optimize urban settlements in hot climates. Throughout my career, I have collaborated with leading architectural firms in Canada, Europe, and the Middle East managing complex Architecture design projects, focusing on innovation and technology. My career is highlighted by a commitment to integrating advanced technologies such as AI and biomimicry in architectural practices, striving to enhance the functionality and aesthetic quality of urban environments. I am continuously exploring opportunities to apply my expertise in architectural design and education to contribute to the advancement of the field.

Experience

Adjunct Assistant Professor
Cairo, Egypt
As an Assistant Professor at the American University in Cairo, I teach advanced architectural courses with a strong emphasis on tectonic principles. My main courses, ARCH 4562 Vertical B Design Studio and GP 1 Thesis Part One, focus on exploring the relationship between materiality, structure, and form. Through a project-based approach, I guide students in developing innovative and contextually relevant architectural solutions, preparing them for the complexities of professional practice.

Founder

Assistant Professor, at the Department of Architecture
6th of October, Al Jizah, Egypt
I engage in delivering lectures, and guiding students through their design projects, focusing on fostering innovation and critical thinking. My work here not only contributes to the academic growth of students but also keeps me at the forefront of architectural education and practice.

Project manager and Design lead Architect
Cairo, Egypt
I oversee and lead architectural projects from conception through completion. I am responsible for the coordination of all project efforts, both administrative and technical, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution. I work closely with clients to capture their visions and ensure that their objectives are met with innovative and sustainable architectural solutions. My leadership extends to managing a team of talented architects and designers, directing project narratives, and maintaining rigorous attention to detail throughout the project lifecycle.
Education

Architectural Engineering
My PhD research focused on exploring urban dispersion as a passive thermal comfort method in New Cairo, Egypt. I investigated the role of shrub dispersion patterns in optimizing urban settlements for hot climates. By analyzing the self-organized patterns of shrubs, I translated these into mathematical equations to develop an algorithm that guides the redistribution of existing buildings. This study proposed four urban layouts which were assessed using the Universal Thermal Comfort Index, comparing them against existing urban patterns. The results demonstrated that the proposed dispersion patterns could create a significantly more comfortable urban microclimate than current conditions.
