My leadership motto is simple: it’s about people, building trust, creating space, and helping others grow. I’m Maria Gonzalez. Throughout my career in the fitness, wellness, and community leadership space, I’ve led with purpose and a clear belief: we don’t just lead organizations, we help shape communities, futures, and stories. Today, I serve as CEO of ClubFitness Greensboro, where I focus on building a strong culture, creating meaningful member experiences, and developing innovative wellness programming that supports healthier and more connected communities. In addition to my role at ClubFitness, I serve on several boards including the Health & Fitness Association, Cone Health, the North Carolina Folk Festival, the Arts Council of Greater Greensboro, and Casa Azul of Greensboro. Through these roles, I work at the intersection of health, culture, community development, and leadership. I’m also an international speaker and collaborator in the global fitness industry, participating in conferences and initiatives that promote innovation, leadership with purpose, and global collaboration in wellness. Beyond my professional roles, I’ve created community events that bring together dance, fitness, and culture, because wellness isn’t only physical. It’s community. It’s belonging. It’s emotional. It’s healing. Whether I’m in the gym, in a boardroom, at a conference, or walking with my team through a visioning process, my focus remains the same: to build something meaningful, sustainable, and deeply human.
