I taught French and Spanish to pupils aged 11-16 at this 'outstanding' secondary academy. I was also a year 8 tutor and I was responsible for the International School status, for which I organised break-out days for KS3 pupils and helped maintain links with schools outside the UK. During my NQT year, I was praised for creating a positive working environment for pupils, my strong working knowledge of French and Spanish and improvements in Behaviour for Learning strategies that I developed throughout the year. My final NQT report also emphasised my professionalism, excellent punctuality and attendance record and numerous contributions beyond teaching, including participation in an educational visit to Normandy, delivering enrichment activities with year 7 and organising the year 8 Japan Day.

My second PGDipEd placement was at King’s Norton Boys’ School, where I taught KS3, KS4 and KS5 French as well as KS3 Spanish. I also took on several responsibilities as a joint form tutor for year 7, including leading PSME lessons and assisting with extra-curricular activities such as the sponsored run for Sport Relief. Within the languages department, I introduced weekly vocabulary tests, trialled a series of Flexible Learning Environment lessons, assisted with GCSE interventions and created a Literary Scheme of work for KS3 French, which outlined half-termly lessons for three years.

On my first placement of my PGDipEd course I worked at RSA Arrow Vale Academy, an Outstanding school that is part of the RSA Family of Academies. I taught French and Spanish to year 9 through to year 11. I also taught French year 12 and 13 and visited the sister middle school, Ipsley, to teach year 7 and 8 French.

I taught EFL to students of various ages and backgrounds.

I tutored languages, including French, Spanish and English, to all ages.

I taught English as a Foreign Language to young people and adults at various levels.

I assisted with campus tours for prospective students, showing them and their students around the university and answering their questions. I also represented the university while giving talks at two schools about studying languages and at an event held for teachers in the West Midlands.

During my time with October Books I took on several roles and responsibilities, including publicity campaigns, a regular stall on Avenue Campus at the University of Southampton, including the setting up of the stall, assistance on the till and managing the stall, and working in the shop both serving customers and managing the stock.

For twelve hours a week I took my own classes of students age 16–20 to teach English, primarily with a focus on speaking practice. I planned and ran the majority of my classes by myself.
