Intern @ Community Paramedic Integration Project

About

I’m a passionate and equity-driven leader with diverse experience across research, education, communications, and community service. Whether I’m overseeing the launch of a media production service or championing equity and inclusion, I bring a deep commitment to impact, accessibility, and collaboration. I’ve worked in roles ranging from Operations Manager and I-EDIAA Director to Camp Counsellor and student support volunteer, managing large budgets, supporting hundreds of students, and fostering inclusive spaces. I’ve also conducted independent research in breast cancer cell biology and contributed to projects at the intersection of science, society, and ethics. At the heart of everything I do is a desire to create meaningful, sustainable change especially for those who are often overlooked. I’m excited to continue bridging science, equity, and community as I move forward in the health, research, or communications sectors.

As an intern with the Community Paramedic Integration Project (CPIP), a Canadian nonprofit organization, I supported the development of a community-based healthcare model aimed at improving access to care in underserved and rural communities in Sri Lanka, with a focus on the Northern Province. My role involved contributing to community health research, program design, and evaluation to help adapt community paramedicine models to resource-limited and post-conflict settings. I worked closely with CPIP leadership on initiatives related to preventive care, health education, early intervention, and system integration, ensuring approaches were culturally appropriate and community-driven. I also assisted with stakeholder outreach, partnership development, and grant-related research, helping to build the foundation for a pilot program that complements existing healthcare systems rather than replacing them. This experience strengthened my skills in global health research, nonprofit program development, and health equity–focused policy work.
