My role of a Self-Lay project manager is vital for the successful execution of utility infrastructure projects. I not only ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget but also maintain high-quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements. My position demands a comprehensive understanding of both the technical aspects of utility installation and the skills necessary for effective project management and stakeholder communication. - Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans outlining timelines, resources and budgets. Coordinate with various stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and utility providers to ensure seamless project execution. Use internal management systems to track progress, address issues, and adapt plans as necessary. - Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all Self-Lay projects comply with relevant industry regulations, standards, and safety guidelines. Prepare necessary permits and documentation required by local authorities and utility companies. Liaise with regulatory bodies to facilitate inspections and compliance checks. - Technical Expertise: Understand the technical specifications of utilities installation, including trenchless technology, pipe laying, commissioning and safety measures. Assess site conditions and identify potential challenges before and during the construction phase, assist with our clients to adapt and overcome said challenges. Provide technical guidance and support to the installation teams. Budget Management: Prepare project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals. Monitor project expenditures, providing regular updates and forecasts to stakeholders. Implement cost control measures to mitigate potential overruns. Quality Control; Establish and enforce assurance protocols throughout the project duration. Conducting necessary health & safety quality audits regularly. Risk Management: Identify potential risks to the project, develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
