Direct a group of engineering, design, estimating, and document control staff maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of all engineering activities and processes required to manufacture high tech process equipment including chemical and gas fluid handling and blending equipment. Responsibilities include driving the direction of the team and setting performance goals and strategies, recruiting staff for growth, managing department budget, and prioritizing projects and initiatives. This includes a full strategy to take opportunities from front-end to back-end while working in collaboration with other departments within the company. Continually monitoring industry standards while monitoring the reliability and performance of internal systems to suggest improvements.

Oversee and direct engineering and design staff responsible for the design of ultrapure fluid and gas distribution and mixing systems. Responsibilities include oversight of custom fabrication projects utilizing chemical and mechanical engineering principles, flow analysis, and material science. Provide specific direction to designers and engineers through direct supervision, coaching, training, and assistance in engineering tasks as necessary. Set performance goals and manage complex work schedules for production of system designs. Work collaboratively with other departments in the overall leadership of the company.

Provide project engineering and management expertise consultation for key customer support. Manage product development and large scale on-site projects with multi-disciplined Union and sub-contracted labor teams. This is a full encompassing scope including initial design and planning, design/hazard reviews, code compliance and permitting, construction management, vendor management, testing, commissioning, training, and turnover. Responsible for schedule, budget, final documentation, ongoing operations support, and reporting to management for project tracking and close out. Provide leadership for winning proposal solutions using internal and external resources for system and scope definition.

Managed product development and on-site projects with multi-disciplined Union and sub-contracted labor teams. Provide engineering support for design and fabrication packages utilizing value engineering, system modularization, and fabrication expertise. • Implemented a complete modular design/installation of a Bulk Gas Delivery system for worldwide implementation. • Successfully completed the coordination and installation of a state-of-the-art heated wet chemical blending system with degasification technology. First of a kind product installation in the industry with full SEMI certifications. • Strong knowledge of construction practices, tools, and requirements needed for full interaction with required teams including engineering, facilities, safety, process operations, and customer point of contact.

Managed the manufacturing of equipment performed by multiple fabricators and vendors for the Packaged Systems & Products group. Responsible for product and process value engineering and leading continuous improvement programs to ensure gains in safety and quality while cost and reliability were continuously challenged and improved. Scope included responsibility for the procurement, engineering, manufacturing, inspection of new products, systems and components, and final commissioning and hand-over.

Managed manufacturing and site projects to ensure that systems were delivered complete to time, cost and quality requirements, to meet end user gas on-line dates. Conducted regular vendor and site surveillance to ensure systems met quality requirements at agreed costs. Ensured equipment was delivered in compliance with all required codes and safety standards. Provided Engineering support to product divisions for equipment sales including design concepts, safety reviews, equipment inspections, installation, and troubleshooting. Functioned as the primary point of contact for integrated system procedures and standards for both internal production divisions and in support of the sales group

Managed system installation projects (ranging from $250,000 to $1.4mm) from the proposal phase through startup, for a leading semiconductor high purity utility supplier, serving such customers as Intel, IBM, Texas Instruments, Infineon, and Fujitsu. Designs include integrated gas, chemical, vacuum and waste management systems incorporating standard products for safe and effective delivery (encompassing source, distribution and control systems). Participate in HAZOP, PSR, PSM, and other safety reviews. Also manage negotiations, contract closing, and change orders with the customers.

Oversaw budget and cost analysis tracking for projects of up to $35mm. Developed comprehensive project scope definitions. Solicited estimates from internal resources and external vendors and subcontractors. Developed 3D designs for integrated projects using Microstation/Intergraph software. Prepared project hand-over design documentation, and supported project execution in specification and procurement of materials and labor for diverse project activities. Provided ongoing project support for design fabrication and commissioning.

Created process flow and instrumentation diagrams of engineering designs. Also created general arrangement and layout drawing packages using AutoCAD. Developed bills of material and other support documents of designs for new business activities as well as proposal estimates. Assisted with developing and writing system proposals (to customers)
