Reporting to the elected governing board, I worked in collaboration with executive management, appointed departments, and elected offices. Accomplishments include: • Established a reputation for delivering results and meeting the board's needs while remaining objective and apolitical. • Strengthened internal audit relationships with appointed departments and elected offices. • Led sensitive board-requested audits while providing insights and advice in executive sessions. • Established internal audit strategic priorities and incremental goals. • Deployed staff development strategies that strenthened performance, retention, and succession planning. • Modernized the county's audit approach through innovative processes and technologies.

Consulted with agency directors and CFOs regarding financial controls, under the direction of the State Comptroller. Designed statewide monitoring procedures and training. Directed internal audits of Arizona's ~100 state agencies. Worked in coordination with the Governor's Office on special reviews and consultations. Accomplishments include: • Implemented a new process of statewide internal control self-assessments (currently used by the Arizona Department of Administration's General Accounting Office). Responsible for the casino compliance division within a department of approximately 100 employees. Oversaw efforts of managers and supervisors in performing casino audits and slot machine inspections for all Arizona casinos. Worked with elected tribal leaders and their regulatory bodies on gaming compact issues and resolutions. Accomplishments include: • Reduced casino compliance violations by over 85% • Led configuration and implementation of a compliance management software

Operated a business with over 40 employees providing financial and commercial real estate services to clients in the southwest U.S.

Led all aspects of financial statement audits of construction, manufacturing, transportation, and professional service companies.

Performed financial statement audits of publicly traded companies. Later recruited by Tull, Forsberg & Olson.
