Miguel Ruiz Sanchez
Head of Cyber Security Operations @ Hapag-Lloyd AG
About
As a cybersecurity executive with over 20 years of cross-industry leadership, I bring a proven track record of transforming complex IT and OT environments into secure, resilient ecosystems aligned with business strategy and risk appetite. Currently leading Cyber Security Operations for a global shipping enterprise, I oversee strategic initiatives across Threat Intelligence, Threat Detection, Incident Response, Attack Surface Management, Cyber Engineering, SOC transformation, and Digital Risk Reduction. My expertise spans SIEM and EDR modernization, OT security frameworks, regulatory compliance (NIS2, GDPR), and global data privacy governance. My leadership philosophy is grounded in building trusted business partnerships, fostering cross-functional alignment, and scaling global security operations without compromising innovation. I combine deep technical knowledge (cloud, hybrid, OT, legacy) with board-level communication skills and a strong presence in industry forums, academia, and regulatory working groups. Among others, I'm: ✔ Certified CISO-ready professional (GLSC, CISM, CIPP/E, CIPM, ISO 27001 LA). ✔ Recognized for driving security culture across global teams. ✔ Lecturer, speaker, and contributor to the European cybersecurity and privacy community. ✔ Driving enterprise-wide security strategy, enable business growth securely, and build high-performing global teams. Last (but not least) a human being enthusiast, sharing ideas, making opinions, creating debates, starting new projects and spreading knowledge with those who are surrounding you. This is the reason why I'm also lecturing in business schools, universities and I'm a member of several (relevant) national and international associations (IAPP, ISACA, EADPP, SANS, ...).
