About
Enthusiastic molecular biologist and geneticist (PhD). I work as project manager and researcher within the European Reference Network on rare BONe Diseases (ERN BOND) at the Skeletal dysplasia Genomics research group at the Institute of Medical and Molecular Genetics (INGEMM) of Hospital La Paz Institute for Health Research (IdiPaz). I have been working as laboratory teacher at CEU San Pablo University (Dec 2023 - Apr 2024). I also have worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Genetics of the Health Research Institute–Fundación Jiménez Díaz University Hospital (IISFJD). I studied the genetics basis of inherited retinal dystrophies at the IIS-FJD Genetics and Genomics research group (Jan 2023 - Oct 2023). I completed a PhD project (2018 - 2022) at Newcastle University, studying the genetics of a group of inherited diseases called ciliopathies and I obtained the corresponding PhD degree in 2023. Keen to use interpersonal, analytical and transferable skills. I believe that the combination of Genomics, Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology and Bioinformatics, as well as academic research and industry are tools with limitless potential, that can answer to multiple biomedical questions and improve the development of Translational and Precision Medicine and Industry. My interests are to continue my academic and professional development and acquire new laboratory, programming, analytical and teaching skills, science, nature, sports, travelling, music, education and whatever experience that enriches my academic and personal development.

Education

Clinical Genetics / Genética Clínica
Translational and Clinical Research Institute, Newcastle University, UK. Funded by Kidney Research UK and Northern Counties Kidney Research fund. Thesis title: Investigation of the molecular genetics of renal ciliopathies. PhD degree obtained: October 2023. Brief synopsis: To investigate the molecular genetics of ciliopathy genes and to identify underlying disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets across the disease spectrum of renal ciliopathies, I used a wide range of cell based assays, including human urine-derived renal epithelial cells and primary fibroblasts. I also used the data available in the Genomics England 100,000 Genomes Project database to complement genetic studies, with a focus on Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) and Joubert Syndrome.
