As a graduate, I gained significant experience across all of Cancer Council NSW’s prevention portfolios including policy and advocacy initiatives. Duties included: Providing project and administrative support to improve the advocacy influence of Cancer Council NSW and to increase the reach and impact of programmes. This involved high-level organisational skills and effective stakeholder management. Managing analysis and reporting for Cancer Council NSW’s triennial Community Survey on Cancer Prevention. Contributing to food policy research, by supporting research design, implementation and reporting. The results of these projects have been published in peer-reviewed journals (please refer to the Appendix). Reviewing and updating website content and information resources to ensure currency of information and relevance to target audiences.

* In my role as Research Officer for Tobacco Control Policy, my duties included: * Researching, analysing and evaluating issues to develop verbal and written strategic advice relating to tobacco control policies and legislation, including preparing policy submissions. * Implementing research activities to increase the evidence base on tobacco control issues. * Supporting the Tobacco Control Manager in his role as media spokesperson by quickly and accurately reviewing current evidence on tobacco control issues and succinctly proving a briefing on key talking messages. * Key stakeholder engagement. * Progressing strategic planning for Cancer Council NSW’s tobacco control priorities.

* In my recent role with the leading cancer charity in NSW, Australia, I managed a team of up to five staff to ensure successful delivery of four cancer prevention programmes across NSW. Duties included: * Programme development, planning, monitoring and evaluation. * Spokesperson for programme related media. * Key stakeholder engagement. * Management of staff and volunteers, including performance management. * Budget planning and management. * Business improvement, including supporting development and implementation of new systems. * Contributing to the strategic and operational business of the Skin Cancer Prevention Unit, including setting targets.
