I progressed into the position of Duty Manager, relocating sites to obtain this opportunity. This rewarded me with more responsibilities and the ability to learn more specialised aspects of managing a facility. As a Duty Manager, I: Provide supervision and support to both staff and users of the facility, and assist the Operations Managers in the effective and safe operation of the facility. Maintain qualifications required in my role such as First Aid at Work, Fire Warden, GDPR and GIRFEC and ensure all staff are up to date with their required training by navigating our staff matrix. Contribute to the development and management of staff rotas in-line with budgets as well as ensuring that appropriate cover is in place to run the facilities. Upkeep Sport Aberdeen’s customer care standards and company values when dealing with customers, external contactors and vendors - with emphasis on courtesy and honesty - and ensure my staff follow suit. Contribute to the overall business performance of the facility, ensuring our sales and retention systems are followed and that our invoicing and debt management processes are correctly implemented. Raise, process and receipt purchase orders (PO’s) for in house purchases, external suppliers and contractors, as well as self-employed fitness coaching staff.

Following my graduation I secured a position with Sport Aberdeen in 2023. This role has provided me with the opportunity to further develop my customer service,gain experience in the day-to-day operations of a sports centre. As a Leisure Attendant, I: Provided support to users of the facility and assisted with the safe and efficient operation of the venue. Maintained the service cleanliness and safety standards, carrying out general cleaning in all parts of the facility. Maintained and encouraged high standards of customer care at all times, attending to customer queries with friendliness and optimism to find resolutions. Assisted with the associated administrative and financial procedures of the facility when stepping up in place of the Duty Manager. Sought out the opportunities to obtain necessary additional qualifications, such as First Aid at Work and Fire Warden, in order to start regularly covering shifts as Duty Manager.
