Commanded a team of experienced armoured vehicle instructors. Responsible to the Chief Instructor for delivering, managing and optimising the complete training development cycle for a suite of armoured vehicle courses. Instrumental in producing confident and competent vehicle operators.

Graduated from a Defence project management and military technology program. Awarded Masters of Management (Defence Capability Development and Acquisition).

Commanded a team of full time staff at an Army Reserve Officer Training Regiment. Senior advisor to the Commanding Officer and responsible for all unit level projects and business as usual functions. Managed the forecasting, expenditure and reporting of unit resources including financial and military resources such as ammunition, rations etc. Involved in strategic planning, organisational change initiatives and general decision-making. Led the planning and execution of numerous Army Reserve Officer Courses for 100+ trainees annually.

Commanded a mechanised platoon of 30 soldiers. Key responsibilities included operations planning and execution at the platoon level, training development and execution, soldier administration and welfare, and armoured vehicle fleet management. Commanded on Operations in East Timor and Iraq.

“DMO exists to equip and sustain Defence’s materiel capabilities to meet Australia’s needs in an effective, efficient, economical and safe manner” Project Manager within a $10B+ Armoured vehicle program that will modernise Army’s aging and obsolescent armoured vehicle fleet. Responsible to the Director General for the development of request for tender documents and Support contract for Army’s largest (in dollar terms) and technically most complex project. Supported the development of an Acquisition and Support Implementation Strategy that provided the framework to lead the development of the Through-Life-Support contract. Successfully liaised and influenced both internal and external stakeholders at working and executive levels to deliver positive project outcomes. Personally administered and chaired fortnightly steering groups to synchronise efforts across the program.

“AHQ ensures Army is ready for future challenges through the development of force concepts and capability options” Assigned a client side project management role within a $10B+ Armoured vehicle program. Responsible to the Director General for communicating the customer’s (Army’s) needs and requirements. Supported the development of the program’s requirements, including the Capability Need Statement, Operational Concept Document and the Function and Performance Specification. Led the planning of the program’s diverse workforce requirements that would support the program over a 20 year period. Led the development of the Army’s Capability Realisation Plan that detailed the plan to introduce into service of a significant new capability.

“CDG’s role is to ensure Government has the right information to make decisions to acquire the capabilities it needs to defend Australia, and its interests now and in the future” Assigned a project sponsor role for a number of projects both pre and post Government approval ranging in value from $40M - $335M. Responsible to the Director General for a broad remit including starting up and initiating projects for Government approval and managing projects post Government Approval. Consistently delivered high quality project management products including business cases, capability proposals, capital budget estimates, organisational analysis, user requirements and project management plans.

“CASG exists to equip and sustain Defence’s materiel capabilities to meet Australia’s needs in an effective, efficient, economical and safe manner” Currently leading a multi-disciplined project team within a $145M+ Program. Responsible to the Director to modernise outdated capabilities through the procurement of technically complex equipment. Directing all project management elements that deliver significant capability benefits within scope, budget, schedule and quality constraints. Influencing positive project outcomes through active engagement of all stakeholders at both working and executive levels. Developing and successfully executing procurement activities in accordance with Government policy. Actively engaging with Defence Industry to procure equipment that delivers an increase to Defence’s combat capability.

The Master of Systems Engineering (MSysEng) is designed for postgraduate scholars who wish to develop a high level understanding of the principles and practices of that shape systems engineering and their implementation through the design, development and application phases.

The Master of Management (Defence Capability Development and Acquisition) is designed for postgraduate scholars and professional managers who wish to gain a more detailed understanding of the managerial and technical skills and expertise relevant to planning and acquisition of complex technology and systems. The program provides a high level of understanding of the issues associated with the development and management of capability and capability systems; in particular, the technical and management factors that influence the design, performance, employability, logistic supportability and technical integrity of materiel systems to achieve capability requirements.
