Preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy equipment assets and Class 8 Mack trucks. Caterpillar bulldozers, side boom tractors, excavators. Manitawoc cranes to 500,000 lb capacity. Engines to include Detroit Diesel 53, 71, and 110 series. Various Caterpillar engines. Specialized equipment related to dredging operations and submarine pipe laying.

Corrective maintenance on customer heavy equipment assets by International, Komatsu, and Dresser. Rebuilt three heavy equipment transmissions. Two were for warehouse stock, and one for a field repair of a scraper. Laid off when work slowed for over three months.

Worked at the southwest Omaha location/retail outlet. Preventive and corrective maintenance on customer small engine driven machines. Two and four cycle engines by Briggs and Stratton, and Tecumseh. John Deere and Snapper mowers and small lawn tractors. Company went bankrupt after losing the Onan engine distribution when Cummins corporation purchased Onan.

Hired as a receiving dock worker. Duties included unloading freight from trailers, inventory of orders, and stocking items in the appropriate location in the warehouse. Operated forklifts and electric powered pallet jacks. During slow periods I would assist the parts counter personnel, pulling and packaging stock orders. Promoted to parts counterman and served in this position for approximately three years. During this time I took a six month leave of absence to attend Marine Corps Recruit and MOS training. I was eventually promoted again to General Warehouse supervisor, but decided to augment to active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Preventive and corrective maintenance on Class 8 Truck-tractors. For the last three months, as the company downsized I was assigned as a working shop foreman. Tractors manufactured by Kenworth, Volvo, and International. Cummins ISX and Caterpillar C15 Acert. Very little experience with the Volvo engine, as these tractors were being phased out of the fleet. Conducted annual DOT safety inspections.

Preventive and corrective maintenance on Class 8 Trucks by Mack, outfitted with flatbeds and hydraulic booms for the delivery of concrete block and related products to construction industry projects in the eastern Nebraska/western Iowa region. Also maintained approximately thirty Hyster forklifts, and a few yard tractors/front end loaders. Operated forklifts as required for shop/warehouse duties.

Preventive and corrective maintenance on Class 8 Truck-tractors. Kenworth fleet, with one Peterbilt 379. Caterpillar 3406C and E engines. Eaton Roadranger 9, 13, and 15 speed transmissions.

Preventive and corrective maintenance on Class 8 Truck-tractors, up to and including engine and transmission rebuild. Mostly a Kenworth fleet, but also has included tractors by Peterbilt, Freightliner, International, Western Star, and Mack. Also maintained and repaired Ottawa, and Magnum yard shag trucks. Detroit Diesel 60, Cummins M11, N14, ISM, and ISX, Caterpillar C10, C12, C15, C16, 3406B, C, and E. Eaton Roadranger 9, 10, 13, 15, and 18 speed transmissions (up to 2200 lbs/ft torque rated) Conduct annual DOT safety inspections.

Studied repair, maintenance, and operation of heavy equipments assets of the United States Marine Corps. Activities and Societies: No "activities" were available, other than drinking at the E-club, which I did very little of. Mostly spent my spare running, and occasionally renting a canoe and exploring the inland waterways aboard Camp Lejeune.
