A Virginia certified law enforcement officer for over 25 years. As an officer, worked patrol and as a police cyclist. As a supervisor I have managed patrol squads at three different district stations, a Criminal Investigations Section, a traffic selective enforcement team, basic recruit training, in-service training, emergency vehicle operations and specialized training for incumbents and continuing education and leadership for a department of over 1400 sworn officers. As a commander has served as the liaison to the Department of Public Safety Communications and as the Violent Crimes Division Commander in charge of Homicide, Robbery, Missing Persons, Cold Case and Fugitive and Apprehension Squads.

Oversaw the planning and implementation of both classroom and practical training scenarios.

Serve as the primary liaison between the Fairfax County Police Department and the Department of Public Safety Communications. Serves as the liaison between the various public safety groups to include the Fire Department, Sheriff's Office, The Virginia State Police, The Virginia Department of Transportation, and other County agencies. Assists with monitoring all operational activities of the agency, to include call volumes and emergency events. Aids the Staff Duty Officer in various emergency situations such as, major crime scenes, high-risk incidents, civil disturbances, acts of terrorism, natural disasters, etc. Maintains and utilizes the agency's notification and callout lists during major events requiring the response of specialized units. Serves as the point of contact with other internal and external agencies when assets are requested and approved for mutual aid. Serves as the police representative within DPSC and provides guidance on police related matters and operations.

Manage and coordinate all driver training for the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy. Oversee six instructors from three different member agencies that are tasked with creating and providing driver training that fulfills the requirements of the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and the Fairfax County Police Department. Overhauled training for Mandatory Emergency Vehicle Operations and the Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) to ensure compliance with Departmental training requirements.

Coordinate continuing and leadership education for the Fairfax County Police Department. Coordinated courses in conjunction with the International Association of Chiefs of Police, The Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation and George Mason University. I also negotiated and manage agreements with numerous colleges and universities to provide educational opportunities for officers and deputy sheriffs from our member agencies. Manage mandatory in-service retraining and recertification for all incumbent officers of the Fairfax County Police Department. Oversaw eight instructors who are charged with the development and planning of training needed to meet requirements of both the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and the Fairfax County Police Department. These training evolutions involve both classroom and practical training exercises. Many of these training scenarios involve large numbers of instructors and role players at off site locations.
