L'Association des professionnels du chauffage (APC) représente l'industrie du chauffage d'appoint auprès des diverses instances et sert de centre d'informations aux consommateurs. Tout comme l'industrie, l'APC a connu une évolution importante au cours des quinze dernières années. Elle est intervenue dans plusieurs dossiers, notamment : La formation de la main-d'oeuvre, la reconnaissance de l'APC par la Régie du bâtiment du Québec, l'établissement de normes et la pollution atmosphérique. Son membership s'étend sur tout le territoire du Québec; de plus en plus de municipalités et de villes - notamment celles qui maintiennent un service de prévention des incendies et d'inspection de mêmes que plusieurs entreprises d'assurances reconnaissent et misent sur son expertise dans le domaine du chauffage d'appoint. L'APC est aussi un centre d'information pour ses membres et elle maintient une attitude neutre envers les intervenants et les produits. L'APC participe à l'élaboration et à la rédaction des systèmes de normes de sécurité et des codes d'installation à l'échelle canadienne qui régissent l'appareillage. Elle assure la qualification professionnelle de ses différents membres et dispose d'un programme de formation technique. L'APC offre également des services d'inspections et d'expertises techniques relativement à la conformité réglementaire des installations des différents types de systèmes de chauffage, via son mandataire EXCLUSIF, la firme d'ingénieurs CIEBQ (Centre d'inspection et d'expertise en bâtiment du Québec). Finalement, l'APC publie le magazine annuel POÊLES & FOYERS qui s'adresse aux consommateurs.
