My objective as Director of Marine Operations is to continue to grow the reputation of the Research Vessel RACHEL CARSON as a multipurpose marine science and ocean engineering platform that can fulfill the needs of the academic, ocean engineering, and governmental seagoing communities. This state of the art vessel is available for charter to any party with marine science or ocean engineering research projects on the Chesapeake Bay or coastal waters of the Mid-Atlantic Ocean. Conducted extremely detailed large scale bathymetric surveys in support of the Corps mission of guaranteeing project depth of the federal navigation channels leading from the mid Chesapeake Bay to the Port of Baltimore.

Sailed in both deep sea and coast-wise commercial vessels of all tonnages including dry cargo, tank, reefer, and expedition cruise. I also worked aboard an off shore tug, and a federal trail suction hopper dredge. My sea going focus is on research vessels. I have sailed aboard NOAA, EPA, ACOE and Naval research and survey ships in various capacities including Survey Tech, Able Seaman, Mate, and Master.

As Director, I'm in charge of the UMCES Research Fleet Operations (RFO). Responsible for multimillion dollar 81' Dynamic Position Class 1, high speed research vessel, the support activity and personnel of the RFO. I am also a member of the University-National Oceanographic Laboratory System/Research Vessel Operator Committee (UNOLS/RVOC) Safety Committee.
