My background is interdisciplinary in nature and involves a combination of research areas in biology, ecotoxicology, environmental and analytical chemistry, and aquatic ecology. I am a postdoctoral researcher at NCSU's Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources. My current research project involves analyzing water from a forested water reuse site (in which treated wastewater effluent is used for irrigation) for potential contaminants of concern (things like pharmaceuticals, pesticides, perfluorinated compounds, etc.) via a nontargeted analysis/suspect screening approach. This project also aims to develop meaningful public engagement strategies with stakeholders and the surrounding community.
