Meshack Makamu

I've worked in the supply chain and logistics industries for over 14 years. I have worked as a Reach Truck Driver at Pick n Pay, a distribution center located in Long Meadow (JHB), from 2010 until 2013. I was working at the receiving department and my primary responsibilities include understanding the suppliers' schedules for the day, assessing the delivered product's condition, determining quantities, signing the POD, and put-away (or binning) the merchandise within the allotted time. Between 2014 and 2015, I worked for the Coca-Cola Company in Oilifants through a service provider named Africa Phambile. I worked as a Team Leader, overseeing 30 individuals per shift (rotating shifts) and ensuring that the operation ran smoothly. My key responsibilities included organizing work, communicating goals, delegating tasks, leading by example, and allocating and managing resources. Responsibilities include problem-solving and project management (such as maintenance and inventory projets). Reporting progress to Warehouse Managers. Organising training sessions to enhance team member skill sets through Training and Development Programs. Motivating team members to reach their goals. Developing team strengths and recognizing areas for improvement. Represent and advocate for team needs. In 2016, I joined Motus Aftermarkets Parts through a service provider called LSC Masakhe at Meadowview. I worked as a Reach Truck Driver until 2018 where I was promoted to be a Team Leader, overseeing 55 employees in the receiving department. The pandemic (Covid-19) forced the company to retrench, and I was one of those affected, but the company eventually re-employed me back to the Procurement Department in 2021. As of 2024, I work as a National Oils and Chemicals Product Manager. My responsibilities include identifying consumer's needs, understanding the larger business objectives that a product or feature will fulfill, articulating what success looks like for a product, and rallies a team to turn that vision into a reality. I am a hardworking and driven individual who is not scared to confront a challenge. I'm passionate about my work and know how to get things done. I characterize myself as an open and honest person that does not believe in misleading others and strives to be fair in whatever I do. I am a good timekeeper and constantly eager to acquire new skills. I am nice, helpful, and polite, with a good sense of humour. I can operate both individually in busy circumstances and as part of a team.
