Meredith M. Goldberg

I studied at the University of Missouri School of Journalism as a graduate student (completing all but thesis/professional project); I worked as a photojournalism intern or staff photojournalist at Troy (OH) Daily News, The Indianapolis Star, The Richmond (VA) Times-Dispatch, The Flint Journal, The St. Joseph (MO) News-Press, The Dominion Post in Morgantown, WV. My work has been published newspapers such as the Virginian-Pilot and The Washington Post, The New York Times and numerous others across North America. I have been honored to be selected to participate, as a student, at Barnstorm: The Eddie Adams Photojournalism Workshop; and Truth With a Camera Workshop, and the 68th Missouri Photo Workshop, in Cuba, MO. I also made the winners' list in The College Photographer of the Year competition, as well as in the regional competitions as a member of the National Press Photographers' Association. My work has been featured as a part of a variety of bands' CD packaging and/or cover art. In addition, I have had my photography and writing featured online numerous times for Dying Scene and other online publications. I have covered numerous music festivals, from Lollapalooza when it was still a touring event, Midwest Live & Loud; Punk the Burbs, Punk Rock Tacos, as well as others. I repeatedly covered Riot Fest, Motoblot, MoonRunners Music Festival. My work is primarily documentary. I am presently working on a long-term project about Chicago area punk rock musicians. My work includes: news coverage, street photography, live events, portraits, sports events; as well as family events such as weddings, engagements, maternity photo sessions and child portraiture. I was assigned to shoot the cover image of the February 2020 edition of "In These Times", a 40 year old magazine sold nationally with international subscribers. My work is also featured inside the issue and another issue of ITT as well. My image of the April 2022 arrest of Brooklyn subway shooter Frank James was distributed internationally by the Associated Press and was on the cover of numerous major daily newspapers across North America. My camera has taken me to Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Iceland, Canada, Belize, El Salvador, and Guatemala. I lived in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala for five months documenting Xela/other parts of the country, doing volunteer work and studying the language. Every experience, including my legal studies, informs who I am as a journalist.
