Melody Yang Fan

Continuing to focus on fund formation and regulatory issues whilst co-managing YaoWang which is incorporated in Lujiazui Financial City of Shanghai. Melody has advised multiple leading global asset managers in connection with their China market entry strategies through PFM regime, QDLP, QFLP/QDIE, QDII, RQFII/QFII, Connect Programs, and various leading Chinese asset managers on their USD funds launches. Additionally, she has also advised all funds regulatory issues in relation to market surveillance, program trading rules, China data vendor DD, sanctions, cross border marketing and etc. Melody used to act as an Advisor to the International Partners Committee of the Asset Management Association of China (AMAC), China’s de facto private fund regulator. Melody is one of the co-authors of the official textbook for AMAC’s private fund qualification exams. She is also the author of the Law of Hedge Funds (Second Edition) – China Chapter published by LexisNexis.

Melody spent one year working in Simmons' London office and acts as Co-head of Simmons International Funds Group. Melody‘s team have also been ranked as Tier 1 for a consecutive five years from 2019. Melody herself is ranked as a Leading Individual(2019 to 2022) and “Hall of Fame” (2023 and 2024). She has been featured in The Hedge Fund Journal’s “50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds 2020,” which recognises investment professionals as well as those in non-investment roles doing exceptional work and making a mark within the hedge fund industry.
