As CTO, I hired and led a team of engineers to innovate a real-time analytics stack that eventually scaled to process 100s of billions of events daily across 1000s of servers. We leveraged a suite of leading frameworks (Kafka, Spark, Node/React) and invented and open-sourced an award-winning distributed database called Druid.

Dataspora was a predictive analytics software and services firm whose clients included banks, telcos, and digital media companies. We were a team of data scientists with Ph.D.s in everything from theoretical physics, mathematics, to computational biology and helped firms accelerate their data strategies. Dataspora was acquired by Via Science in 2011.

Conceived CustomInk.com in 1999, and was lucky enough to hand it off to my college roommate and former Wall Street banker Marc Katz who scaled it to the thousands of employees and hundreds of millions of revenue business it is today.

Gentech was acquired by Sanofi.

Met John Perry Barlow at the Institute of Politics, brought craft beer to students with University funding, and spent nights in the Science Center basement running early builds of NCSA Mosaic.

Advised by early leaders in synthetic biology -- MacArthur Fellow J.J. Collins (now at MIT) and Tim Gardner (now founder of Riffyn) -- while studying math and computer science. My thesis work focused on the statistical inference of gene networks in a uranium-breathing microbe, to optimize it for nuclear waste site remediation.
