Monitor availability, MTTR and MTBF. Ensuring equipment performance against set targets. Achieve maintenance targets @85% availability. Develop, present and implement remedial action plans. Ensuring that all engineering activities are pre-planned, scheduled properly and timeously executed and conducted as per OEM guidelines and intervals. Conduct frequent inspections of work done by artisans, to ensure work is executed to high standards. Develop, propose and implement cost saving initiatives. Ensuring section budget is adhered to. Investigate premature component failures, perform root cause analysis. Identify and propose training interventions and programs to ensure that artisans and assistants are developed in terms of set IDP’s. Investigate, analyze, and report on accidents or incidents. Measure and execute safety audits and evaluate effectiveness of hazard control programs Ensure effective and preventative maintenance management of all plant and mine infrastructure machines, systems, and equipment to limit failure and optimise production processes. Coordination of shutdowns to ensure production efficiency Track and record subordinates’ performance to indicate improvement Ensure that failure analysis is conducted on deviations and corrective action is implemented and enforced.

Construction & Commissioning Phase: Supervised the mechanical installation of static and rotating equipment during the plant construction phase. Conducted quality inspections on lead-lined vessels, stainless steel piping, and acid-resistant brickwork. Executed cold and hot commissioning procedures, including dry-out cycles and first acid circulation. Collaborated with OEMs to verify performance benchmarks and safety interlocks. Operational Maintenance & Shutdowns: Developed and executed the Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedule for the entire acid circuit to minimize unscheduled downtime. Led Shutdown Planning activities, including scope definition, spare parts procurement, and workforce scheduling. Managed third-party contractors during major turnarounds, ensuring work met technical specifications and safety standards. Reduced breakdown frequency by 20% through the implementation of vibration analysis and oil sampling programs. TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT EXPERTISE Detailed list of acid plant equipment maintained: Rotating Equipment: Main Blower (Multi-stage), Sulfur Pumps, Acid Circulation Pumps (vertical/cantilever), and Cooling Water Pumps. Static Equipment: Sulfur Burners, Converters (V2O5 catalyst handling), Heat Exchangers (Shell & Tube, Plate), and Acid Storage Tanks. Gas Cleaning & Absorption: Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs), Drying Towers, Final Absorption Towers, and Candle Mist Eliminators. Piping & Valves: High-alloy acid piping, steam jacket pipes, and specialized acid globe/butterfly valves. Auxiliary Systems: Sulfur Melters, Filtration units, Waste Heat Boilers (WHB) and heat exchangers.
