Michael Collopy

Michael Collopy has gained worldwide recognition for his commissioned portraits of hundreds of public figures. His portfolio contains a vast array of portraits from world leaders such as Nelson Mandela and 41 Nobel peace laureates to 7 U.S. Presidents and entertainers like Paul McCartney, George Clooney, Paul Newman, Salma Hayek and Jessica Alba. Collopy also worked with Frank Sinatra for many years. His portraits have graced the cover of numerous books, record covers and magazines including Time and Life Magazine. In 1996 Collopy released his 1st bestselling book: "Works Of Love Are Works Of Peace" with Mother Teresa of Calcutta; which USA Today called: ”A Book Infused With Grace;” and was one of the top coffee table books of the year. In 2000: Collopy released "Architects of Peace” to critical acclaim and was one of the top coffee table books of that year. In 2007: Collopy worked with Quincy Jones on his illustrated memoirs: "The Complete Quincy Jones”. In 2016: One of Collopy's portrait's of Mother Teresa was chosen as the official Vatican picture for Mother Teresa's Canonization. This image appeared on the cover of Time Magazine for the 3rd time in 10 years. Another photograph from Collopy's archive was selected and painted as Mother Teresa's official Sainthood portrait and was displayed on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica for a week and broadcast throughout the world. Pope Francis tweeted the image out on the eve of the Canonization and received 95,000 likes. The image currently hangs in the chapels of the Missionaries of Charity around the globe. In 2019, Collopy released his book: “Courage,” profiling courageous individuals from around the globe. In 2021, Collopy spoke for the acclaimed lecture series MPSF speaker series in the series that included Jane Goodall and Wynton Marsalis among others. In 2022, Collopy appeared in the film: Mother Teresa, No Greater Love; which featured many of his photographs of Mother Teresa. (The film explores Mother Teresa’s life, her work with the poor and the continuing impact of the Missionaries of Charity.) The 2 night theatrical release was a significant achievement, grossing over $1.2million at the box office.
