McKenna Lappin

As Social Chair of Sigma Kappa at Elon University, I plan and execute large-scale social events, managing logistics including security, entertainment, catering, venue coordination, and transportation. I coordinate directly with venues and external partners, handling contracts and ensuring compliance with university policies and risk management requirements. In this role, I work closely with the Executive and Governing Board to ensure all programming aligns with organizational goals and enhances the overall member experience.

As a Property Assistant for Elon Sports Properties, I support the execution of marketing partnerships and game day operations for Elon University Athletics during the football and basketball seasons. My responsibilities include setting up in-venue signage, coordinating sponsor promotions, and capturing proof of performance for on-field and video board visuals. I collaborate closely with the Partnership Services Coordinator and Senior Property Assistant to ensure delivery of sponsorship elements and engaging experiences for students and partners.

Contributed to the development and operation of Offiepedia, OffWestEnd’s new all-in-one CMS powering show listings, assessor workflows, nominations, marketing, and venue dashboards. Supported data migration, content structuring, and system testing across multiple tables (Productions, Venues, Assessors, Nominations). Assisted with research, quality-control checks, and user-journey improvements for the upcoming unified OffWestEnd website. Gained hands-on experience with Coda-based automation, dynamic email systems, and real operational processes behind London’s independent theatre awards.

As the Camp Photographer at Camp Burgess and Hayward, I managed the camp’s Instagram account and created daily visual content that highlighted the energy and community of camp life. I also uploaded and organized hundreds of photos each day for the parent gallery, making sure moments from each activity were captured and shared. Working with both Canon and Nikon equipment, I gained hands-on experience adjusting ISO, shutter speed, and aperture to photograph fast-paced and vibrant environments. This role allowed me to combine my passion for photography with social media management to help strengthen the camp’s online presence and storytelling.

Every two weeks a co-counselor and myself took care of eight campers from the ages of seven to sixteen, directed swimming lessons and outdoor pursuits, daily lifeguarding, created hands-on activities, scheduled events, and attended nightly meetings with other counselors and directors.

For my Senior Independent Learning Experience, I worked at Terma Goods which is a small boutique that sells products made by local businesses. I created Instagram Reels and TikToks that targeted different products and where they came from. Additionally, I did customer service work behind the counter and over the phone.

Worked 5 hour shifts a few times a week, interacted with customers and coworkers, updated the stock, trained new employees, closed the register for closing shifts, communicated with the other branch, and organized online orders.
