Kindergarten Grade Level Chair
Dallas/Fort Worth Area
Within Teach for America, I was hired at Ascher Silberstein Elementary School, which is a part of Dallas Independent School District-- the 14th largest school district in the nation with a diverse population of about 157,000 students. As the Kindergarten Grade Level Chair for the 2nd year of my TFA commitment, I managed the kindergarten team of teachers, our weekly team meetings, and was responsible for the direction and success of grade-wide academics and culture. I was in charge of planning and executing all events, including our Parent Universities and field trips.

Kindergarten Teacher
Dallas/Fort Worth Area
At Teach for America, we believe that socio-economic status should never hinder access to a quality education, and through the program I committed to teach Kindergarten for 2 years at Ascher Silberstein Elementary School. As a Kindergarten teacher, I created and executed rigorous monthly units and presented daily lesson plans that pushed 25+ students to grow intellectually while developing soft skills such as social-emotional skills and leadership attributes. 95% of my students grew 1.5 years in reading growth, closing the achievement gap by 99%. I was also a Transition Team Leader for 225 incoming 2014 corps members, planning welcoming events and mentoring corps members. Additionally, for the past 2 years I was a chosen member of the Sponsor a Teacher program, where teachers with demonstrated success in the classroom are paired with donors for a year to provide insight into a classroom and how their donations impact classrooms around the metroplex.
