About
• I am a research scientist committed to translating scientific knowledge into progress in people’s lives. • I have hands-on experience with a broad array of techniques in molecular biology, recombinant protein production and structural biology (HPLC, DNA engineering, SDS-PAGE, molecule characterisation: MS, DLS, spectroscopy; and crystallography) • I have experience in independently planning and executing experiments and I have developed SOP’s for experimental methods and usage of equipment around the lab. • I value and enjoy team-work and have conducted work in multidisciplinary research groups (Microbiology, Structural Biology, Chemistry) and on numerous collaborations (Ireland, UK). • I am an excellent verbal and written communicator of complex science and data. I have presented at seminars, grant reviews and progress assessment meetings and, in addition to my Ph.D. thesis and a review paper (Wronska et al. 2015), I have written numerous investigative and progress reports. • I successfully managed my own Ph.D. project in parallel with coordinating and supporting laboratory-based projects of under- and post-graduate students, which included goal setting, motivation and technical guidance. • To advance my Ph.D. project, I secured the SGM President’s Fund for Research Visit Grant (April 2012) and the Thomas Crawford Hayes Research Visit and Travel Fund (May 2012, May 2013). • I have experience in a GMP environment in a leading medical device manufacturer (Abbott Vascular) where I worked on final product quality inspection and packaging (creating sterile barrier, in-progress control of sterile barrier formation), and am familiar with regulatory requirements for products intended for clinical use (FDA regulations). • I was a member and PR officer of MicroSoc, a student society within NUIG’s Microbiology department, and was involved in organising departmental seminars, events for students and charity initiatives. • In my spare time I enjoy outdoors activities, travelling, cinema and reading.
