President, Sole Proprietor
Maya Azucena
As President of my music career, I create music, am a band leader, produce concert and benefit events; and have a history of music career management, self booking, and self distribution. As someone who believes music is a tool for activism and healing, I do a lot of Humanitarian outreach through music. Recently, I was sponsored by the US State Department, along with my band, to do a musical tour and workshops as US Cultural Ambassadors to China, Burma, Sri Lanka, Honduras and El Salvador. I am co-founder of www.MDGFive.com with my partner, Emmy-winning director Lisa Russell. This interactive website uses the Arts to raise awareness of Maternal Health, engaging artists and activists using their own voices. It allows users to create custom and targeted public service announcements about the subject of Maternal Health. Our site is sponsored by Reality Digital, Engender Health and Ipas. As a result of my work, I was recently invited to a White House Global Cultural Initiative brunch and have received a Proclamation from Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, House of Representatives, for producing a domestic violence awareness concert event in NYC. In addition to touring the world and looking for unique music and cultural collaborations, I am completing a new CD for release in early 2011. I am in constant process of seeking like-minded people in business and global community outreach to work with.
