As a follower and lover of Jesus, and ambassador of Christ to the earth, I believe the Lord has impressed upon my heart the Psalm 84 mantle of being "a doorkeeper in His house", specifically through missions, worship leading, and discipleship. So what exactly does this "doorkeeping" really look like? Maybe it’s more than just standing up on a stage in front of hundreds and leading worship. In fact, maybe that’s not what the psalmist meant at all. Maybe it’s truly a life laid down; the full realization of what it means to count others more significant than myself for His sake. Maybe it’s losing my life, my pride, my comfort and my dignity, all for a few to maybe have the chance to be touched by the presence of their Maker. A doorkeeper’s work is sustained only by his knowledge of what lies behind the door. I’m not going to give my life for others to experience something I’ve only heard about or read about. But I’ve been to the other side of the door. I’ve been to the innermost chambers of the temple. I’ve met with the One who dwells there. And there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for another to see what I’ve seen and to meet the One I’ve met. This is where revival begins. This is the life of mission I aspire to lead. “for a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. i would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭84:10‬ ‭
