Maximilian Y. K. Ma

Mr. Maximilian Y.K. Ma, Chairman of Lee Heng Diamond Group, founder and chairman of MaBelle Jewellery Co. Ltd. received his B.A. at Boston University in the United States. Between 1978-1983 he served as director and chairman of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGH), and then as a member of the TWGH Advisory board from 1983-2004. Mr. Ma was awarded an M.B.E. by Queen Elizabeth II in 1984 for his outstanding contribution to the society. Over the years, Mr. Ma has continued his role in contributing to society through various opportunities and organizations. He was the chairman of the Hong Kong Diamond Importers Association and the Chung Ying Theatre Company. He served as council members at World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the Council of Performing Arts, and the Outward Bound Trust. Mr. Ma also served as members of the Law Reform Commission, Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, the Provisional Hospital Authority, The Hong Kong Lottery Fund and the Hong Kong Community Chest. As the fundraising director, Mr. Ma has been very involved in the fundraising and renovation of The Christian New Being Fellowship Youth Drug Rehabilitation Center in Hong Kong. He currently serves as a Council Member at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Beyond the community, Mr. Ma devotes his time to entrepreneurship. Two decades ago, diamond jewelry was considered inaccessible by most people. Observing the unmet market needs, Mr. Ma sought to offer diamond products to consumers with an innovative and affordable approach. It was due to Mr. Ma's passion that MaBelle was founded in 1993. MaBelle was the first diamond merchant advocating fixed price transactions and computerized inventory control with a simple vision that diamond jewelry should be readily accessible to women of all ages. Mr. Ma disrupted the market by introducing high quality diamond products at a new price point along with meticulous service and convenient locations.
