As Chief Medical Officer for Basic Health International, I am in charge of the administrative, research and medical components of our projects. I am currently leading as a technical advisor a 3 phase demonstration project in El Salvador that will screen 30,000 women by 2016 with an HPV-testing device developed specifically for low resource areas. The project is currently in phase 3 and has screened 20,000 women. This is a project that is being conducted by the Ministry of Health of El Salvador, in which private and public partnerships have been essential. I am co-Investigator in 2 NIH funded research projects that will take place in El Salvador, Peru and Colombia. These studies include development of technologies for screening, triaging and treatment of pre-cancerous lesions.
