Maurice Tyler, J.D.

My passion is helping people. When I was a criminal defense lawyer, I spent over a decade helping clients navigate the complex criminal justice system. I achieved numerous courtroom victories for my clients. I also worked outside of the courtroom for the benefit of my clients. Unfortunately, health issues derailed my legal career. Specifically, in 2007, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. My illness would get worse and for health reasons, I was forced to leave the practice of law in 2012. Fortunately, I am better now and am looking forward to a career in the mental health field as a peer specialist. Given my history with mental illness, I am in a unique position to advocate for mental health clients. CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: 1. Undefeated in trial work before juries as a public defender. 2. Achieved a five (5) minute acquittal before a jury in a complex case. 3. As a death penalty lawyer, never had a client sentenced to the death penalty. EXPERTISE: 1. Compelling public speaker. 2.
