Matthias Breuckmann

Matthias is Managing Partner / Geschäftsführer at evolutiq, based in Cologne, Germany. Since 2019, evolutiq, with its more than 40 employees, has developed into a rapidly growing investment platform – in private equity, among other things, with one of the first Fund of Search Funds in Germany and an attractive portfolio of long-term investments; in the real estate sector with a strong logistics portfolio, institutional partnerships in development and existing properties, and expansion into new areas such as residential and education. Within the evolutiq ecosystem, there is also xdeck, the state-of-the-art B2B accelerator and venture capital fund with over 100 accelerated start-ups, top-quartile performance, and one of the highest survival rates in the market. Matthias holds a Bachelor of Science in General Management (specialization Business Law) from European Business School (Oestrich-Winkel/Germany, abroad semester Hong Kong University) and a Master of Science in General Management from CASS Business School (London/UK). During his >14 year career in Private Equity Buyout, latest as Director at Ardian, Matthias was involved in the entire value chain of transactions, including sourcing / financing (SFA) / shareholder agreements (SHA) / structuring / strategy / interaction with management teams / add-ons up to the successful exit. Matthias is a passionate search fund investor and a strong advocate of the Search Fund and Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) model. He is convinced that this approach is a powerful way to equip small and medium-sized enterprises with exceptional leadership, address succession challenges in a sustainable manner, and protect as well as create jobs. As a mentor to search fund entrepreneurs, Matthias is enthusiastic about supporting high-potential individuals on their journey into entrepreneurship and helping them grow into outstanding CEOs. He is an experienced board member for private companies while also a member of the supervisory board of Intershop Communications AG, listed in Prime Standard on Frankfurt stock exchange.
