The AUVSI competition challenges teams to design and build, from scratch, a completely autonomous plane capable of performing dynamic tasks based on competition and environmental factors. The Embedded Systems Team works to interface all the necessary internal components including a camera and gimbal, flight controller, Raspberry Pi, communications components, and other sensors such as GPS. This year, we are also working to implement an autonomous ground vehicle to be dropped mid-mission. Some of my responsibilities include researching components and logging power usage to determine optimal component organization, designing a wiring harness for plug and play modular design, and Implementing a safety workaround for flying manually.
