Matthew Whitney

I’ve been working in plastic injection molding facilities since 1991. I started out as a machine operator and advanced to material handling, die setting, assembly department supervisor, warehouse manager and finally engineering assistant in 12 years with my first employer. When I moved on to Grand Haven Plastics in 2004, I started in the quality department managing documents and preparing automotive PPAPs. I moved up to the position of assistant buyer and then buyer within 3 years. After 8 years there, the gentleman I originally worked for moved on to start his own company, GHCM, where I joined him 12 years ago and I’m still working there today. I’m currently responsible for all of the duties associated with raw material procurement as well as the production scheduling for our 19 presses, 55 operators and support staff, while working closely with our plant manager and the rest of the management team to ensure our production team is successful. In my capacity, I am frequently working directly with our customers and am able to convey their needs to both our vendors and our production group to do our best at making sure we meet challenging deadlines in a custom manufacturing setting, typically lacking reliable forecasts. It’s fun and rewarding.
