I was a part a group of 8 volunteers providing retreat experiences for young people aged 11 – 18 from all over the Diocese of Brentwood. This also meant living and working with a team, which helped me acquire good team work skills and a sense of personal and collective responsibility. My main focus involved leading small groups in retreats, which meant encouraging group discussion and leading groups in projects and tasks. I also led sessions for large groups. I was comfortable speaking publically and competent in giving direction over how tasks should be completed. I also had to be creative by designing new sections and activities for retreats and organising fundraising events, including quiz night, a sponsored walk and open house retreats.

* Organising the filing system used to store the information of constituents and their letters. * Responding to constituent letters and maintaining and updating the computer system used to store confidential casework. * Writing briefing papers for Sir David.

* Researching key policy areas for the Salvation Army, such as minimum unit pricing for alcohol and the regulation of betting shops. * Tasked with arranging meetings for the Salvation Army with the three major political parties at the 2013 party conferences.

St. Thomas More Catholic School is a voluntary Aided Roman Catholic Comprehensive School providing for the educational needs of 11-19 year old students from West Gateshead. It was also the first school to be awarded Technology College status in the North East.

Activities and Societies: Sheffield University Rugby League - President (2012 - 2013), Social Secretary (2011 - 2012).

As part of the Catholic Parliamentary Internship scheme, I undertook a part time master degree in contemporary ethics. This involved weekly lectures which were assessed by 6 pieces of coursework. I completed these studies in June 2014.
