Marine Technician @ Shinkei

About

Getting an undergraduate degree in Oceanography while specializing in machine assembly and construction, I have spent the last 3+ years working with and deploying multiple ocean and fisheries related instruments across the world. In 2022 I interned aboard the E/V Nautilus helping with deck ops and deployment of the R.O.Vs Hercules and Atalanta as well as helping collect and categorize biological and geological samples from the ocean floor. During my undergrad from 2024-2026 under James Moum, I helped on the Chi-Pod system, building long term sensors to track turbulence and ocean mixing across the world, working on the calibrations and circuitry to ensure precise and accurate data for researchers over 1-2 year deployments. In 2025 I also interned at the Center for Coastal Ocean Mapping helping train and build their ASVs machine learning models to ensure safe navigation through ocean channels. Post graduation I now work at Shinkei Systems as a Marine Technician, helping build and deploying along side there new Poseidon robotic systems. While in the field it is my job to ensure the Poseidon robots stay active and serviceable while ensuring quality of fish before shipment to outside vendors.
