Advanced Bot Works is a company specialising in robotics education systems. We also produce premade parts for custom robots and are currently conducting research into the development of amateur rocket avionics systems.

In this role I... - manage 20-30 of the clubs most high performing students and teach them mid to high level skills in robotics engineering. - teach students how to design assemblies and PCBs in Fusion 360, as well as manufacture their designs through 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining. - host several weekly training sessions in the school term and run holiday workshops. - manage finances and ensure availability of parts. - run student selection, team allocation and solve interpersonal issues. - provide input into staffing decisions for the lab based on the abilities of coaches. BBC has the largest robotics club in the southern hemisphere. We have fielded international teams since 2006, and 2 or more international level teams every year since 2017. It is our goal to continue this success for years to come.

In this roll I taught junior school students in grade 3 and 4 the basics of robotics with the Lego Spike platform.

As an undergraduate engineer I create engineering drawings for structural elements of the plant and part fabrication. I also write SOPs for all production lines and the other machinery associated with them. This is done in accordance to Queensland WHS requirements and given approval by WHS personnel and plant managers. I manage quality assurance for 4 manufacturing lines, covering dimensional accuracy, material standards, automated OIT’s and pressure tests. All in accordance with ISO9001 requirements or higher for many industries. Part of my work also includes installing new machinery in electrical and mechanical capacities. I maintain machinery and tooling such as extruders, spray tanks, cutters and haul-offs. Sometimes I am required to fabricate unique or replacement parts for machinery or systems around the plant. Occasionally I get to hop on the forklift and do some yard work too 😁

In this role I was contracted to design components in Autodesk Inventor to meet various medical standards and design constraints. I create parts and drawings of an assembly that are used to manufacture a final product.

In this roll I… - Lay up carbon fibre and kevlar composite components for aerodynamics through wet layup technique. - Assemble battery management PCBs for the high voltage accumulator that powers the vehicle. - Devised a gas driven remote emergency brake actuation system on the 2022 autonomous vehicle.
