Deep analysis on the copyright/fair use, trademark, right of publicity, and safety/bias risks arising from dataset use and model outputs. • Directed all trademark and copyright litigation and pre-litigation matters, both offensive and defensive. Led Snap’s lawsuit against the USPTO seeking to compel registration of the SPECTACLES brand. • Managed global trademark portfolios, clearance, prosecution, oppositions, and enforcement for SNAPCHAT, Ghost Logo, SNAP, LENS, and dozens of related brands. • Advised dealmakers on M&A, divestitures, and target company integration. Guided teams on strategy and risks related to complex commercial transactions. • Designed and oversaw Snap’s platform IP safe harbor compliance, rights management, notice-and-takedown systems, and transparency reporting. • Advised on legislative/regulatory issues and inquiries related to IP and safe harbors in partnership with experts and industry groups. Matters included the EU Copyright Directive, EU AI Act, Copyright Office Generative AI NOI, DMCA reform, DSA, and the USTR Notorious Markets list.
