*Supervise and coordinate underground mining Operations. *Ensure safe working conditions and enforce safety regulations. *Plan and organize shift activities to meet production targets. *Oversee drilling, blasting, and hauling operations. *Monitor and control production levels, quality, and waste. *Manage and lead a team of miners, including training and development. *Conduct pre-shift briefings and safety meetings. *Investigate and report incidents, accidents, and near-misses. *Implement and maintain quality control and quality assurance processes. *Collaborate with other departments (such as maintenance, mine technical and geology) to optimize operations. *Monitor and report on equipment performance and maintenance needs, including: *Rock drilling tools (such as drill bits, rods and shank adaptors). *Drilling rigs and other machines. *Ensure effective use and maintenance of rock drilling tools, including *Regular inspections and wear monitoring.( Dull grading of bits) *Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and productivity in all mining operations. *Manage conflict and resolve issues promptly. *Communicate effectively with team members, management, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities include;  Ensuring compliance with the Mines Act.  Ensuring workplace safety and environmental standards are established and met, and that standards and procedures are communicated to site personnel.  Assist with materials and equipment needs.  Prioritize tasks and delegate workload to my crew and monitor progress.  Provide leadership and encourage performance.  Communicate routinely and effectively with the Mine Captain and other supervisory personnel as required.  Perform other related duties that may require my attention.

Responsibilities included; Drill and Blast Operations • Understood the specific PPE required for use on the blast crew. • Understood as well the specific PPE which was required for use in Drilling operations. • Familiarized myself with the explosives used at KML. • Trained in the handling, storage and transport of explosives. • Understood the procedure for arming a blasthole with a detonator and booster (Priming) • Understood the procedure for loading Emulsions into the blasthole. • Understood the stemming procedure for a blasthole. • Understood and interpreted a blast design. • Learnt how to time a blast. Load and Haul Operations • Learnt how to use radio communication on the pit and make reports. • Performed various tasks as instructed by the Supervisor. • Learnt the safe design and haulage operations in the pit. Mine Technical Section • Learnt the design of an open pit mine. • Learnt the design of ramps. • Advanced my knowledge in Surpac. • Understood the sentinel geology RESEARCH PROJECT I successfully completed a research project, titled: “ASSESSING THE BENEFITS AND DISADVANTAGES OF USING ELECTRIC VS. DIESEL LOADING UNITS AT KALUMBILA MINE, SENTINEL PIT”. • The main objective of the study was to evaluate the viability of employing electrically or diesel loading units at Kalumbila Mine. • The specific objectives included:  To assess the performance efficiency of the available loading units.  To compare the advantages and disadvantages of each type of loading equipment.  Make recommendations as to whether the selected equipment is viable for use after consideration of economic analysis.
