Primary responsibilities are to develop applicable test methods according to YBB/China Pharmacopeia, European Pharmacopeia, US Pharmacopeia and ISO requirements for products within the portfolio. Collaborates with the Scientific Affairs and Technical Services and Commercial teams to understand the voice of customer and then develop plans to conduct necessary testing to address issues of concern. Identify and set up suitable functional testing released by various compendia. Supports RA in addressing the China DMF/regulatory dossier requirement. Manage the Service Lab by ensuring equipment are calibrated and updated with work instructions as well as HIRA. Part of the Safety Committee for more than 2 years, taking part in quarterly plant audits, area owner for the Service Lab and R&D Pilot Plant, and responsible for conveying HSE alerts to the team. Enrolled in the Advocacy Program for sharing and curating West related content to increase brand awareness and engagement across multiple stakeholders.

Development of Functional Test methods according to various compendia

Main roles being developing new contact lens formulation and product development. Pioneered and set up the R&D department. Performs physical and chemical tests on lens/lens formulation with compliance to the relevant ISOs by validation of equipment and test methods. Utilised Design of Experiment to optimize lens formulation. Notable tasks include Design History File, SOP and Shelf-Life Determination. Core competency includes meticulous planning and troubleshooting for lens production process. Liaise with suppliers for raw materials, and works closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering and Regulatory Affairs teams for scale ups to ensure timely product launch and product registration. Streamlining production process by implementation of new measures in order to improve productivity. Performs trouble-shooting when Production triggers an out-of-specification investigation. Currently leading several R&D projects at the same time. Worked on colour lens development by supporting the Korean counterpart. Worked with the engineering department in optimizing the pad printing equipment. Successfully written a proposal to SPRING (currently ongoing), with up to 70% funding for the expenses incurred for the project in the span of 2 years. The project is in collaboration with NTU. Thrives and manages a team by means of effective communication and being task-oriented. Reports directly to Head of Department, Managing Director and Chairman. Familiar with ISO 13485, ISO 11987, ISO 18369.

Tutored Primary to Secondary levels subjects in mainly Science and Mathematics to students from different background. Students were able to achieve at least 2 grades better. Also taught Abacus to pre-school kids for a period of time at a managerial level.

I was appointed to work under the Crystallization and Particle Science division. My project title was “Pharmaceutical Cocrystals to Enhance Drug Properties” supervised by Dr. Venugopal Rao Vangala. My work at ICES has benefited me by providing a platform for what I have learnt in the classroom, such as the industrial applications of differential scanning calorimetry (DCS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis. I also performed morphology studies on crystals to examine the formation of cocrystals.

Worked in a graduate lab in University of Kansas, USA, under the supervision of Professor Paul R. Hanson, for a period of 10 weeks, sponsored by NSF. The area of research is the Applications of Phosphate Tethers in the Synthesis of Salicylihalamide A. Attended weekly seminars given by different professors. Gave a 15-minute PowerPoint presentation and a poster presentation on the project. Also published a paper on The Journal of Organic Chemistry titled "Phosphate Tether-Mediated Approach to the Formal Total Synthesis of (-)-Salicylihalamides A and B".

Honours Project 1 (Jul08 - Dec08) Completed a 6 months Student Exchange Programme in University of Southampton, UK, under the supervision of Dr. Richard C. D. Brown. The title of the project is – In Search of New Selectivity in the Catalytic Epoxidation of Alkenes (Organic Chemistry). The research activity was culminated in a poster presentation & a comprehensive written report. Attended a conference in London on Recent Advances in the Synthesis & Fictionalization of Heterocycles. Yonsei University, Seoul South Korea (May07 – Aug07) Spent 6 weeks during the summer quarter of 2007. Studied Korean language & Business Management. Undergraduate Research Experience (May06 - Jul06) Gained significant experience for 10 weeks under Prof Leung Pak Hing. The aim of the project was the Synthesis of a Platinum Template (Inorganic Chemistry). The research activity in chemistry was culminated in a PowerPoint presentation & comprehensive written report.
