I am passionate about education, arts, children and charity. I have set up a grant that will provide £300 to a final year arts student in London. The Ha Grant: thehagrant.co.uk I've always believed in education and started working in the sector in 2006 and love it. Moving to London, I moved to an arts university which combined my love of education and the arts. Setting up my grant has been a huge learning curve (I am a non-IT technical person...) - (domain website and email name registrations, dns settings, domain mapping, POP and SMTP accounts, deciding on website content and so on) and I've finally made the website live as of 21 July 2014. I plan to expand the grant and my charitable portfolio in the future.

I oversee all aspects of the grant from the initial set-up (web and email hosts, researched other grants for comparison, initial promotion to appropriate educational institutions and following through with meetings) to deciding the applicant criteria and award of the grant by reviewing applications. I will be setting up another page to list the award recipients with their website/blog details. I am also thinking about the future of the grant: partnerships, increase in award and amount of awards, and whether to continue to self-fund or to fundraise with donors.

My responsibilities included tracking the student's journey from pre-application to the certificate award. I handled queries related to course information, application process (which included interviews), on-course issues, student record details, registers and end-of-course information (which included certificates and further study information). I liaised with tutors regarding students (applicant information), registers, timetabling and administrative tasks. My computer skills involved Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; QL for the student record information system (student personal and financial information, reports).

I provide a full and comprehensive administrative support for a portfolio of courses (Journalism and Publishing courses - Foundation Diploma and Access to Higher Education) including the scheduling and servicing of committees, exam boards, course validations, department meetings; maintaining records for the University’s academic systems pertaining to student records (extenuating circumstances, unit results). I liaise with a range of stakeholders: external examiners, external contract companies, students and their course representatives, academics and my colleagues on-site and across five colleges and central office that are part of the University.
