As an undergraduate program assistant I provided administrative support for the Undergraduate Computer Science program. I offered front line advising for undergraduate students. I provided administrative support for the Curriculum and Undergraduate Affairs committees. I assisted with undergraduate teaching and research assistant appointments, payroll and coordinating exam invigilation. I was also involved in High School outreach activities.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant I led weekly two hour tutorials for HUMA01 “Exploring key questions in the humanities” in fall and winter terms, 40-50 first year students each term. I worked with students to develop their critical thinking and communication skills. I provided regular constructive feedback on student papers, discussions and progress in the course. I provided counselling for students on their academic performance and future goals. Exploring Key Questions in the Humanities: Academic study in Arts, Culture and Media is distinguished by its critical and historical approaches to text, image, and sound. This course introduces students to key questions through lectures and readings, performances, and small group discussions. Students experience the dynamism and diversity of the Humanities and humanistic inquiry while refining their critical thinking and communication skills. ACMA01H3 is a writing intensive course that offers students regular constructive feedback.

I develop, provide, evaluate and manage academic advising services, policies, procedures, programs and projects in order to support the academic success, personal development and retention of approximately 450 undergraduate students. In addition, I identify students in crisis and provide advise and counselling on available academic options and support services on campus. I develop innovative programs and resources to support students. I represent the Faculty of Science for the Vancouver Summer Program (a four week academic program for cohorts of international students to study at UBC). I manage and am on the field as a group leader on Integrated Sciences study abroad courses in Iceland and Hawaii every year.
