Worked with youth and young adults at a program which delivers a holistic approach to recovery from addictions.  Support and encourage youth and young adults in their addiction recovery process,  Teach life skills, attend AA and NA meetings with clients,  Model appropriate behaviors, help clients to be accountable for their behaviors,  Use counselling skills, including motivational interviewing, to help clients through difficult times,  Create an atmosphere of safety, security, positive regard and acceptance for clients,  Submit documentation on ISM and maintain good communication with co-workers.

I worked in Student Services as a counsellor for students at Holland College. While there, I worked with students on a variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression, stress management, career counselling, relationship difficulties, family issues, among others. I provided information on mental illness to students and faculty and I coordinated anti-bullying and violence against women awareness campaigns. I facilitated group stress management sessions with students.

Worked in a residential treatment facility for youth in care from ages 9-18 which provided various types of programming and individualized case plans for youth and their families.  Worked with youth and their families who are deemed 'high risk' in a residential treatment facility,  Did behavior modification, used various counselling skills and interventions, created and implemented individualized case plans for each youth,  Helped parents learn new parenting skills, maintained ongoing communication with families of youth, ensured the safety and security of the youth and the facility,  Implemented in-house school programs, did recreational activities with the youth, taught life skills,  Maintained ongoing communication with staff, performed daily documentation, case notes, incident reports,  Attended case conferences, consulted with other professionals who were involved with the youth,  Assumed the role of primary worker for specific youth, budgeted and documented monthly finances for youth.
