Because of the increasing focus on Patient Safety and the new initiatives to publicly report Quality information, there was a regional decision (Western Region includes Fairview, Lakewood & Lutheran hospitals) made to divide the Quality /Accreditation activities and the Case Management activities of the organization, beginning in January 2004. This is also consistent with how the other Cleveland Clinic Health System hospitals operate. Responsible for the overall Functions of the Quality Management department (excluding the Case Management department functions: social workers and RN Case Managers) with an increased focus on patient safety, performance improvement activities, regulatory requirements, medical staff committees, patient satisfaction and coordination of measurement activities for reporting to external sources All other bullets listed below, with the exclusion of direct supervision of the RN Case Managers and Social Workers (shaded), are reflective of current activities Appointed member of the Cleveland Health Network Quality Alliance Council
