About
I'm a storyteller shaped by places, languages, and the rush of breaking news. As a video journalist for Mexico and Central America with The Associated Press, I produce, film, and edit breaking news and feature stories with a global lens as part of AP’s Latin America newsroom. Previously, I worked as a correspondent for AFP in Bolivia and a video producer in Colombia, covering major events across the region—from political unrest and presidential elections to long-form stories on climate change, energy, culture, gender, and diversity. I report in Spanish, English, and French, and my work in text, photo, and video has been recognized among AFP’s top global highlights. I’m a polyglot currently learning Chinese, and also speak Arabic, which has allowed me to work as a fixer and interpreter in Uruguay—supporting foreign journalists reporting on topics like the resettlement of Syrian refugees and the reintegration of former Guantanamo detainees. My work has also taken me to Austria, where I was lead writer for the launch issue of Salzburg Global Seminar’s magazine, producing in-depth features for a global readership. I’ve co-authored a piece on social housing for Belgium’s Le Soir, and in 2018, I live-tweeted the Global Editors Network (GEN) summit in Lisbon. I’ve also studied political science and have a keen interest in data journalism—using facts and visuals to make complex issues more accessible, accountable, and to tell stories that truly matter.
